ESA is the European Sulphuric Acid Association that brings together European sulphuric acid producers and companies as well as organisations which are involved and interested in the sulfuric acid sector.
From 1st January 2004, ESA opened the association to associate member companies or trade associations with an interest in production, transport, storage, distribution, use, recycling, disposal, etc, of sulphuric acid and willing to contribute to the objectives of ESA. The association represents and defends the interests of the sulphuric acid, Oleum and sulphur dioxide industry at national and international levels. ESA also provides a forum for issues of general and technical interest.

The key objectives of the association are:

  • To follow and anticipate regulatory matters and, where appropriate, develop common positions for those issues
  • To monitor and influence those matters by putting forward the industry’s views to the competent authorities
  • Address health, environmental and toxicology issues
  • Collect and monitor statistical figures on the sulphuric acid market worldwide
  • Inform the public and the competent bodies on the role and place of sulphuric acid in the economy
  • Provide a forum where experience in health and safety issues can be exchanged between all partners, in particular regarding transport
  • Contribute to the development of life cycle assessments with sulphuric acid users.

Regarding the structure of ESA, please note that our meetings are split mainly into 5 categories which are the General Assembly, the Management Committee, the Technical Committee, the Statistical Committee and the HPV Task Force, and meet regularly.

Associate Members are invited to attend the General Assembly meetings twice a year and participate in ESA activities.
